The AN6513-1A chest pack, which came after the bulky AN6513-1 square pack, was introduced in December 1942 as part of the AN-6513 harness. It became the standard issue by the end of 1943 and was widely used until it was replaced by the A-3 in 1944. Its distinct round barrel shape was achieved through the use of heavily contoured end flaps and bias construction, which also allowed the pack to stretch slightly when packed.

The reproduction of the AN6513-1A chest pack faithfully follows the original pattern. It retains the single-cut bias construction, heavily reinforced ripcord protector flap, and single small carry handle. Made from AC drab brown canvas, it also features the original red painted ripcord. Internally, the pack is equipped with web hesitator loops, a secondary inspection and packing data pocket, and pilot chute flaps.
