Can Label Armour's Star Corned Beef labels
The 12-ounce truncated Corned Beef cans are still the same today with the twist-key opening and two labels are available. These labels are specially die-cut to follow the contours of the truncated cans. The Donald Cook's label has a cutout for the opening tab, the Famous Flavor has no hole and the tab must be pressed through the paper.
- During World War II, Armour's Star played an important role in supplying the U.S. military and civilian population. During that time, much of the food was canned because fresh produce was hard to come by due to scarcity and rationing.
- Military Rations: Armour's Star Corned Beef was a common product in the C-rations and K-rations used by the U.S. Army. This canned meat provided a convenient and nutritious source of protein for soldiers, especially during field trips where fresh produce was not available.
