Can Label Evaporated SWIFT's Milk label
In the 10-in-1 Ration two small 6-ounce (170 ml) cans of evaporated milk were included. The size of these cans are roughly 2.5 inch in diameter and are about 2.5 inch in height (63 x 63 mm).
Two brands are available: Pet and Swift's evaporated milk.
- Swift & Company was founded in 1855 by Gustavus Swift, and the company quickly grew into one of the largest meat processing companies in the United States.
In the early 20th century, Swift & Company began producing condensed milk, and Swift's Evaporated Milk quickly became one of the most popular brands of condensed milk in the U.S. market. Like other brands of condensed milk, the condensed milk product was promoted for its long shelf life and ease of use.
Like other brand products, such as Swift's Premium Beef, Swift's Evaporated Milk was often used in military supplies, including the U.S. Army's C-rations and K-rations. Condensed milk was an essential wartime product because it had a long shelf life and provided a nutritious alternative to fresh milk, which was often unavailable due to scarcity and rationing.
