American WW2 USAAF Navigator Type A4 Leather Briefcase.

Officially called "Case, Navigation, Dead Reckoning, Type A-4".

Leather briefcase issued to American bombers in WWII. This vintage-looking leather briefcase was used by navigators to store all of their maps, paperwork, pencils and navigation equipment needed to guide the bombers to their target and home safely.


Characteristics:

Quality thick leather with a wrinkled finish (textured feel not slippery)
Four compartments (3 dividers) on the inside.
Handle at the top.
The closure on the valve is lockable, including key.
Two leather straps go around the entire bag to make the bag tighter or larger depending on how much paperwork is being carried.
The bag can be pulled out to carry more paperwork and cards. The bottom will expand to about 130mm, the top about 100mm deep.
