On the evening of June 5, 1944, the 45 chosen crews of the 440th TCG gathered for a briefing. This meeting had been scheduled since 1:00 PM on June 3, and during this time, they were joined by members of the 3rd Battalion of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, as well as the 1st and 3rd Platoons of Company C 326th Airborne Engineer Battalion, all of whom were part of the 101st Airborne Division.
Due to unfavorable weather conditions, the operation had to be delayed, but at 3:00 PM on June 5, the final briefing finally commenced. Their mission: to drop at Drop Zone "D," located southwest of Sainte-Mere Eglise, near Angoville-au-Plain.
He is dressed in a greenish-brown wool uniform consisting of a shirt and pants, along with service shoes and leggings. He also wears an officer's cap. His flying gear includes an RAF Pattern 41 life jacket, Type A-3 parachute harness, A-2 leather jacket, and A-10 gloves. In his hands, he holds a parachute pack with a yellow stripe painted on it, as well as a pair of earphones labeled ANB-HI.
